Be the first to see a transformed Leona Drive and speak to artists and students about their work on the project.

Grand Opening and Reception / Friday, Oct. 23rd, 7-10pm
Join us for our grand opening on site. A free shuttle bus to the site departs from Toronto International Art Fair (7:45pm) and the Gladstone Hotel (8pm), with Leona Drive cocktails by artist Dean Baldwin en route and a special screening curated by Pleasure Dome beginning at 9pm.

Installation at TIAF / Oct. 22nd to 26th
Through a partnership with Art Toronto (Toronto International Art Fair), The Leona Drive Project will also offer special events and programs at the fair, including free Leona Drive brochures, and unique installations by artists Christine Davis, Oliver Husain and An Te Liu in the fair's NEXT lounge area.

Roundtable on designing suburbs / Oct. 28th, 6:30-8:30pm
Reimagining the future of Toronto's inner suburbs: An open dialogue on arts, creativity and community. Featuring: Willowdale Councilor John Filion, Spacing's Shawn Micallef, Leona Drive artist Robin Collyer, York University professor Douglas Young, and York University professor and Leona Drive curator Janine Marchessault. Michael Prokopow will be moderating. Reception at John MacKenzie House will follow. Meeting Room 1, 2nd floor, North York Central Library, 5120 Yonge St.

Stay tuned
A major symposium in March 2010 will address the culture of the suburbs and feature a keynote address and panel discussions with urban planners, artists and architects.

A special issue of the journal Public edited by Janine Marchessault and Michael Prokopow will further explore the issues raised by the exhibition and symposium.

A documentary film about the project and the process behind it by York University film professor Philip Hoffman will debut in spring 2010.
